Dear Parents,
Well, we’ve settled into the rhythm of Term 2 with our skates on. Our School Development Days focussed on high potential and gifted education (HPGE). Our staff completed professional learning workshops designed to support them in implementing HPGE with fidelity and equity for our students.
HPGE is about identifying and fostering students’ potential across the 4 domains – intellectual, creative, physical and social-emotional – contributing to a holistic approach to student development. This truly is what makes NSW public education special.
ANZAC Day
How proud I was to see our school was once again so well represented at the ANZAC Day March. Thank you to all our parents who put in the extra effort and time to make our kids shine as they represented our school and to our staff who helped with organisation on the day.
Updates to School Reports K-6
This year we are introducing updated school reports. The new format has been developed by the NSW Department of Education in response to feedback from parents and educators to make reports easier to read and understand.
- Your child’s report will still show their progress across all subject areas.
- Teacher comments will appear in English, Mathematics and the general comment section, in line with department policy,
- The general comment for our Kindergarten students also covers all other key learning areas including, Creative Arts, HSIE, PDHPE, and Science and Technology.
- We have adjusted our school report template to meet these requirements whilst maintaining a clear and comprehensive overview of your child’s learning.
A parent survey will be shared early in Term 3, and we encourage you to provide your feedback on the new format.
If you have any questions in the meantime, please don’t hesitate to contact us. Thank you for your continued support.
Upstage Performing Arts
Our Upstage performance workshops were once again eagerly received by our students. We were privileged to be offered an additional workshop so that our K-2 students could participate this year. Upstage is the only organisation in Australia solely dedicated to developing the skills and showcasing the talents of regional and rural young performers. Mrs Thompson and I were able to attend some of these high-quality professional workshops and it was joyous to see our talented students having so much fun whilst learning new skills.
Enjoy the next fortnight with your children.
