Dear Families,
Welcome to Term 1 2025!
We hope you had a happy and restful break with your families. We extend a special welcome to the families of our 61 Kindergarten students and our 24 new enrolments from other schools. Teachers feel ready for another successful year at Calare PS, as we continue to deliver the new curriculum.
Staff Development Days
Our school development days are used to build on the knowledge and skills of our teachers, school leaders and school administrative support staff through targeted professional learning.
This term all staff completed relevant mandatory training to comply with legislative, department and school requirements, ensuring the safety and optimal functioning of the school. We then engaged with whole-school planning to improve the learning outcomes of students, particularly in Mathematics. We analysed student and school data to identify student needs and provide a focus for teaching, assessment and classroom practice.
School Photographer
Next Tuesday15th February, is School Photograph Day. Master School Portraits have produced good results in the past and we are again securing their services this year. This year all payments will be processed online. Further details will be forwarded as they become available.
We ask that all students are neatly presented in their full summer school uniform with black shoes. Short white socks are to be worn by girls and short grey socks for the boys. No ties are required.
Meet the Teacher
Also on Tuesday we will be having our “Meet the Teacher” afternoon commencing at 3.30pm in the bottom quadrangle. A free sausage sizzle will be operating from 3.30 pm – 4.30pm. Come down and say hello and grab a quick snack.
Unfortunately, time doesn’t permit individual interviews on this day. Parents who would like to speak to their child’s teacher individually are able to make appointments through the office for an alternate time. Our Parent/Teacher interviews will be held on Tuesday 1st April (Term 1 Week 8). Online bookings for these interviews will become available in the coming weeks. Looking forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday!
Stage Assemblies
Stage Assemblies will continue to be held on Fridays of even weeks this year. Parents are invited to attend in the school hall from Week 6 onwards.
Kindergarten and Stage 1: 10.30am
Stage 2: 9.30am
Stage 3: 12 noon.
Easter Activities – save the date.
Our Easter Hat Parade and other Easter activities are one of the highlights of our school year and parents are well represented. To enable your planning, our Easter activities will be held at 2.15pm on Tuesday 8th April (Term 1 Week 11). Please note the later start time than in previous years.
Working Bee- Saturday 22nd February 2025 from 8.30am
Thank you to those parents who have already expressed an interest in helping at our next working bee. We would welcome anyone else who can give up some time to assist. Jobs include:
- Touch up painting

- Enhancing the fairy/dinosaur garden
- Decorating our new cubby houses
Please contact the school office on 63 623699 if you are available.
Thank you for your commitment to working alongside our staff to ensure every student learns, grows and has a sense of belonging here at Calare. Again, welcome to the 2025 school year.

Proud Principal of Calare
If your child should need to have prescribed medication at school please see the office staff for a form to fill out. Without this form we are unable to administer medication. All medication needs to be prescribed by a doctor, be in the original packaging with label attached. Under no circumstances should children be bringing in medication, an adult will need to drop it off and collect it. This is a requirement from the Education Department.
A few reminders for road safety around our busy school.
- Please do not walk through the carpark. Please use the pedestrian gates. The staff carpark is for staff vehicles and deliveries only and can become very busy.
- Please ensure your children are using the crossings and not running across the road. We had some near misses last year and would hate for anyone to be hurt.
- Be aware that the "kiss and drop" in Wentworth Lane is there for you to drop off/pick up your children and go again quickly. This is not a space to park you car and walk your children into school or wait for them in the afternoon. The parking officers do random checks of this area and you could find yourself with a hefty fine.
